Schumacher: A Designers Resource

Founded in 1889 by Parisian, Frederic Schumacher, the company has stood the test of time as one of the premiere stops for interior designers. They have successfully taken the creation of fabric, wallcovering, trim furniture, and home accessories to another level.

It has a portfolio of over 10,000 products available for sale to interior designers and architects on fschumacher.com as well as in the 18 Schumacher showrooms in the United States.

1966 saw the unveiling of one of Schumacher’s designs, the Metropolitan Opera House draped in dazzling gold and bronze originally inspired by Matisse’s masterful cut-outs.

1989 bought about the renowned historical collection, inspired by the famed music house. The design pays homage the the rhythms and energy of Manhattan’s nightlife.

As the years continued and a reputation that precedes many others, Schumacher has worked closely to release several collaborative collections with such designers as Cecil Beaton, Dorothy Draper, Vera Neumann, Frank Lloyd Wright, Joseph Frank, Saul Steinberg, Karl Lagerfeld, Jeremiah Goodman, Saul Steinberg, and Elsa Schiaparella.

These collections have many of their patterns still in circulation, due to their high demand, along with reboot collections with the estates of Vera Neumann and Frank Lloyd Wright released in 2014 and 2018, respectively.

For any designer in the know, Schumacher can allow a design to complete a space and with such an expansive collection, one is only limited by their imagination.
